HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Fifty Dollars. That's it. No hidden fees or costs.


ONLY $50... WHAT'S THE CATCH?

I know. Fifty dollars for a headshot created by a formally educated photographer with 20 years of professional experience in a Downtown Denver studio seems a little too cheap! ...too good to be true! What's the catch? 

There's really no catch... just a very streamlined process I've developed to reduce costs, save time AND create consistently amazing images. This process does require the implementation of some very specific policies. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with my process and booking policies below BEFORE booking your session, as these sessions are non-refundable and my policies are strictly enforced to ensure I'm able to provide the best possible service to as many people as possible... as quickly as possible!


WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

Your session includes a private mini-headshot session at my studio in Downtown Denver. I typically produce about 5-10 images and you will be able to view them right then, select your favorite and be on your way with no need to return later or wait for proofs. You will receive one final image with the option to purchase more images and/or extended retouching if necessary.


HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Most sessions take about 10-15 minutes, but I've done them in a as little as 5 minutes for certain clients.

IMPORTANT: While it is rare, it is possible that my schedule on Denver Headshot Day may fall behind for reasons beyond my control. To prepare for this possibility, please allow for a timeframe of 30-45 minutes, just incase. In the event that my schedule is delayed and I'm not able to begin your session within 30 minutes of your originally scheduled time, you can choose to reschedule or request a refund.


HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?

Fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Check your email. Check the "color calendar" if you'd like a specific color background. Use our calendar to select an available time slot and follow the instructions to finalize your booking.


HOW DO I PAY?

Because payment is required upon booking, I cannot accept cash or checks. All payments must be made online using any major credit or debit cards. If you choose to purchase additional images or extended retouching services, payment will be due on-site at the time of ordering and can be made via credit card, debit card or cash.


WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

In order to offer these services at such a great price, it is crucial that there are no scheduling gaps or missed appointments. For this reason, I must maintain a strict cancellation policy and cannot accommodate requests to reschedule sessions or refund cancellations or no-shows. When you book a session time, it is no longer available to others that would have utilized that space, therefore it cannot be refunded.

With mini-sessions of this nature, it is crucial that clients plan to arrive a bit early, as being even 5 minutes late for a session may not allow us enough time to complete the session without eating into the next person's scheduled time. Clients who are more than 5 minutes late may have to forfeit their session time with no refunds provided.


ARE THERE AGE LIMITS FOR THESE SESSIONS?

These sessions are available to anyone 5 years of age or older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and parent must agree to our terms of use and advertising policies. If you'd like to set up a session for children under the age of 5, please contact me directly to set-up a custom shoot.


WHAT IF I NEED HEADSHOTS FOR SEVERAL PEOPLE?

Denver Headshot Days are designed for individual headshots. You're welcome to schedule individual sessions back to back with your friends or co-workers, but each session will be treated individually. If you're interested in booking headshots (in-studio or on-location) for several people or group shots, please contact me to setup a custom shoot!

WHAT ARE MY BACKGROUND OPTIONS?

You will be able to choose one of three background options: White, Black or the "color of the day". Every Denver Headshot Day will be assigned a specific color backdrop, so if you want a specific color (aside from black or white), please be sure to check out the color calendar and schedule your session accordingly!


WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?

Your session will take place at my studio in Downtown Denver (one block away from the Denver Art Museum). IMPORTANT: The studio is located downtown in a private access building. Please review your confirmation email carefully for directions, parking information and building access instructions PRIOR to your session date. Refunds cannot be provided for clients who are late for any reason.


WHAT IF I NEED MY HEADSHOTS TAKEN ON LOCATION?

Denver Headshot Days are designed for in-studio sessions only. In order to provide this service at such a great price-point, I have to be able to work efficiently in my own space without needing to set-up, tear-down and transport equipment. That said, I do have a ton of location experience... If you're interested in booking location headshots at your office, school, church, home or other preferred location, please contact me to setup a custom shoot!


WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY SESSION?

While it is important that you be comfortable and express your individual personality when choosing clothing for your session, there are a few general guidelines to consider when choosing clothing for your session. First of all, only your top will be shown, so you shouldn't worry about anything below the belt. Just focus on the top. In general, clothing should be...

  • Simple. Avoid patterns, logos or other designs. Solid colors with minimal texture are best.
  • Clean. Please be sure to use a lint-roller (even if you don't have pets). EVERYTHING shows up and it's much better to take 30 seconds with a lint roller than pay extra retouching fees to clean-up unsightly hair and lint.
  • Subtle. The general rule of thumb is that you want the viewer focused on YOU, not your clothing. I typically recommend leaning towards color tones that are more natural, dark and complimentary to your background choice, skin tone, hair, eyes etc. On the other hand, I recommend avoiding super-bright neon, pastel or even solid white clothing that will draw attention away from your face. Ideally, your clothing should not be too much brighter than your skin tone.

IMPORTANT: If you prefer to bring a few options for me to help you choose from or just want to put on a clean, fresh shirt, you will have an opportunity to quickly change your top before your shoot begins. In order to save time, please do not plan on changing your entire outfit, only tops.

WHAT IF I WANT MULTIPLE BACKGROUND/CLOTHING OPTIONS?

You may choose to book 2 or 3 sessions back to back if you want more than one backdrop or would like to change clothes. Alternatively, if you want even more options (color palettes, clothing styles, background options, lighting styles, camera angles, etc), that's great! I absolutely love spending time with my clients to produce images that truly stand out and provide them with all of the options they need. Please reach out to discuss scheduling a custom shoot, so we can make the time to really get creative!


WILL HAIR AND MAKEUP SERVICE BE PROVIDED?

HMUAs are not permitted during headshot day shoots due to the time constraints, but there is room to accommodate hair and make up professionals in the studio if you prefer to schedule a custom shoot.


HOW SHOULD I DO MY HAIR AND MAKE UP FOR MY SESSION?

This is entirely up to you, but I typically recommend that you wear your hair and makeup similar to the way you wear it on a normal day. Most headshots should represent a person the way they normally look. If you typically wear heavy makeup... do that. If not, then don't. It's entirely up to you.

IMPORTANT: You will have an opportunity to check your hair and freshen up lipstick and powder if necessary, but should otherwise be ready for photos upon arrival. If you prefer a more relaxed timeline and want to do your hair and makeup in-studio, please contact me to set up a custom shoot where we can take the time needed to provide you with a higher level of service.


WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE MY HEADSHOT?

Typically, I take about 5 photos and then we will review them together. If you don't like them, I'll ask you to elaborate a bit and then take a few more images while attempting to solve any problems you might have. You will then be able to view both the first and second set of images in order to select your favorite image. 

After over 20 years as a professional photographer, I've worked with ALL types of people and am very sensitive to the anxiety that can be induced by being photographed in a studio setting. If you're a bit camera-shy or tend to be super-critical of yourself in images, please feel free to share this information with me upon booking, and I will try to make some extra room in my schedule to accommodate a slightly longer image selection process. While I will do everything possible to create an image you absolutely love, this may not always be possible when it comes to mini-sessions and due to the limited nature of these sessions, I am unable to offer refunds. If you're concerned we might not capture an image you're proud to share, please contact me to schedule a custom shoot with more time -which would allow me to photograph you using multiple angles, lighting styles, color palettes, posing options, facial expressions, clothing options, etc. 


WHAT IF I NEED TO CONTACT THE PHOTOGRAPHER ON SHOOT DAY?

Denver Headshot Days typically run on a very tight schedule, so I may not be able to respond to you on shoot days. Please confirm your booking info, location details, and ask any lingering questions PRIOR to your shoot date, as I may not be reachable while working in the studio with other clients. 

If you can't find the studio, are running late, or need to reach me on shoot days for any reason, please text my cell phone, and I will respond when/if I am able. I will not be checking emails or answering calls while working in the studio, so if you need to reach me, you must text. You can find my cell phone number in your confirmation email.


CAN I BRING MY PET TO THE SESSION?

Unfortunately, our building does not allow pets. If you're interested in setting up a session for your furry family member, please contact me to set up a custom location session... we can schedule a shoot at your home or I can rent out a pet-friendly studio space just for you.

If you require the aid of a service animal, please contact me prior to booking. I will make every possible effort to accommodation trained service animals, but they will not permitted into the space unannounced. This policy is for their own protection, as a working photography studio with equipment and bright flashing lights can be an un-safe place for them without advance preparations being made. Any service animals must always be under the handler’s control. Service animals must have a harness, leash, or other tether unless the handler’s disability prohibits their use or if the animal’s tasks would be directly hindered by such equipment. I will ask that you remove your animal from the studio immediately if the animal is disruptive, aggressive, or not housebroken. Please know that I am obligated to follow the terms of my lease, and must limit animals in the studio to service animals only, which does not include companion or emotional support animals. WHAT USAGE RIGHTS ARE INCLUDED?

AM I REQUIRED TO CREDIT THE PHOTOGRAPHER WHEN USING MY PHOTO?

While it is appreciated, it is not required to provide photo credit when using your own image. THE EXCEPTION to this policy is when the image is being published by a for-profit third party (a magazine article, for example)... in this case, the third party publisher is required to provide photo credit to KimSidwell.com.

When posting your images online, it is encouraged (but not required) to provide photo credit to KimSidwell.com in the caption and mention, tag, etc my social media profiles.


WILL MY PHOTO BE EDITED OR RETOUCHED?

Standard image processing and adjustments (color correction, cropping, adjustments in brightness, contrast, etc) are included with your final image. Additional retouching services are available; including teeth whitening, skin smoothing, eye brightening, hair/clothing color adjustments, stray hair and dust cleanup, etc. The cost of the additional retouching services can vary, but I will provide you a quote during your in-studio selection process if you're interested in enhancing your images.


HOW WILL MY FINAL IMAGE FILE BE DELIVERED?

Your final image will be delivered directly to the email address your provided upon booking. Your final image will be delivered in a square format as a .jpg file printable up to 7x7 inches. I deliver these images in a square format, as that is the most commonly requested file format for online/social media use and it provides the most versatile options if you need to crop it to a horizontal or vertical format. If you require a specific file type or larger file sizes, please contact me to schedule a custom shoot so I can provide a higher level of service to meet your specific needs.


WILL I BE ABLE TO ORDER MORE IMAGES FROM MY SESSION LATER?

Due to the expedited and high volume nature of these mini-sessions, I do not archive your images for future review or offer online proofs for future ordering. Any images not purchased during your session will be deleted. Please make sure you ask any questions you might have and order any images you want before leaving the studio.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY IMAGE FILE?

Due to the expedited and high volume nature of these mini-sessions, I am not able to archive and save your final images for long-term storage. It is crucial that you save and backup your image within one week of delivery. Image files that are corrupted or lost may not be retrievable. If you do lose your final image, you're welcome to reach out and I will provide it IF it is still available. Please note there will be a $40 administrative fee for re-delivery of lost images.
